Dogs come in All Sizes
Do you ever think about the size of your dog and the size of her friends?
We've heard things like "Dogs don't know what size they are," or "Look at that tiny dog, she thinks she is big!" But in reality it only takes a moment of thought and a little bit of empathy to realise that small dogs see the world from a different perspective. Everything must seem huge to them, including us.
Our walking pace is often too fast for smaller dogs, making them trot or run all the time to keep up with us. This is not good for their body and it makes it impossible to explore and get the benefit of mental stimulation that walks can provide. So slowing down when we are on a walk with a smaller dog is very important.
Of course, giving your dog a choice and socialising with dogs of all sizes and breeds is great. Yet if you have a small dog and she gets the chance to play or take a walk with similarly sized friends, she will probably enjoy it a lot. Imagine how safe and inviting must feel to have company like this.
